Triumph Speed 400 Summary
Price: Triumph Speed 400 price for its variant – Speed 400 Standard starts at Rs. 2,24,496. The mentioned Speed 400 price is the average ex-showroom.
Triumph Speed 400 is a bike available in only 1 variant and 3 colours. The Triumph Speed 400 is powered by 398.15cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 39.5 bhp and a torque of 37.5 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Triumph Speed 400 comes up with anti-locking braking system. This Speed 400 bike weighs 176 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 13 liters.
The Triumph Speed 400 is a modern retro motorcycle and among the first motorcycles to roll off the Triumph-Bajaj alliance.
The styling cues on this sub-500cc motorcycle comprise a Speed Twin-inspired design. Thus, it packs a round headlight, curvy fuel tank with knee recesses, step-up seat, and a side-slung exhaust. It also boasts the classic Triumph engine profile with a triangle badge, finned cylinder head, and exhaust header clamps. The colour palette, similar to the one in the international market, comprises three options – Carnival Red with Phantom Black, Caspian Blue with Storm Grey, and Phantom Black with Storm Grey.
The feature list is at par with most of its rivals, and the Triumph Speed 400 gets full LED lighting, semi-digital instrument cluster, ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control system, dual-channel ABS, and an anti-theft immobiliser as standard. The instrument cluster comprises a large analogue speedometer and an LCD screen that displays a tachometer, fuel range remaining, and a gear indicator.
Powering the bike is a 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that it shares with the Scrambler 400 X. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor delivers a maximum output of 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm. The gearbox benefits from a slipper and assist clutch mechanism. Triumph Motorcycles has announced a 16,000km service interval for these motorcycles.
The Speed 400 has a hybrid spine/perimeter, tubular steel that is bolted to the rear sub-frame, and a twin-sided cast aluminium swingarm. The suspension tasks are handled by 43mm, upside-down, big piston front forks and a preload-adjustable, gas-charged, rear monoshock. Meanwhile, the braking setup comprises a 300mm single disc with a four-piston radial calliper at the front and a 230mm single rotor with a two-piston fixed calliper at the back. This motorcycle tips the weighing scale at 176kg (kerb).
The Triumph Speed 400 is available in a single variant and three colours. It rivals the likes of the Harley-Davidson X440, Hero Mavrick 440, and the Royal Enfield Classic 350 in the Indian market.
